Marsha Garrison has lived in Parke County
for 32 years, but originally hailed from Baltimore, Maryland, and
Bargersville. She graduated from Center Grove High School.
Her major influences were her elementary
teacher Mrs. Ford and high school art teacher Beulah Glass and her
sister.
"My sister was an art teacher who
later taught gifted children. She was also a potter, basketmaker, and
quilter. She gave me the most encouragement I ever had. As children,
we would go visit our favorite aunt. One day she said that we could
do anything we wanted to do. I asked to go to the Cincinnati Museum
of Art," said Marsha.
Her preferred medium is watercolor, but she
also does oil and pen and ink.
She has taken instruction from Louise
Hansen, Rob O'Dell, Henry Bell, Joe Trover, Joe Fettingis, and Bob
Whitmore. She also has attended classes at Aeromont School of Arts
and Crafts at Gatlinburg.
She has show her work at the Wabash Valley
Art Guild, Arts Illiana, and at the Parke County Fair as well as the
Covered Bridge Art Gallery. She has won many ribbons.
