Artist Bio
Lois has deep roots in Parke
County. Born in Raccoon Township, she has made her home on her
grandfather's home place where she daily looks out to the Jeffries Ford
Bridge (1915) named after her grandfather.
Lois was one of the charter
members of the Covered Bridge Art Association in 1965, and her son Bob
helped make the dream of the gallery on the square a reality.
A friend's dare prompted a
long-held interest in art to become an avocation. She has been a
practicing artist for more than 30 years. She has taken classes from
Mary Moscan, Charles Cady, and Joe Trover, just to name a few.
Oil paints are Lois's chosen
medium, and "the beauty of God's earth--all of it" offers her
favorite subjects. She has won Best of Show at the Brown County Art
Guild exhibit. She has shown her paintings at the Little Italy
Festival and Paris, Illinois.
