Born in West
Terre Haute, Indiana, Carol lived in Wisconsin and Texas before
returning to Indiana where she and her husband bought property at
Rocky Fork Lake in Parke County.
As a teen, Carol remembers enjoying trips to the Swope Art Gallery
in Terre Haute. Although she was 40 before she began taking
art lessons, she has been a practicing artist since. She has
studied pastels with Jean Hornburg of Hartland, Wisconsin, and has
attended other workshops.
Carol prefers to work in oils and loves diverse subjects--ships,
water, rural scenes, bridges, and birds. She has exhibited in
Wisconsin and the Wabash Valley. She won first places at the
1980 and 1981 Wisconsin Women's Club State Art Contests, and in 1995
received a blue ribbon at the Waukesha County State Fair. She
has also exhibited with the Wabash Valley Artist Guild.
She joined the Covered Bridge Art Association in 1995 and became the
president of the association in 2002.
